Before I LEARNED TO BE gentle

A Portrait Experience

There was a version of you who thought strength meant bracing.

Who carried more than she admitted.
Who pushed through.
Who held herself to impossible standards.

She didn’t yet know how to be gentle with herself.

This experience is for her.

What this is

Before I Learned to Be Gentle is a guided portrait experience for women who are used to being “the strong one.”

It is not about reinvention.
It is not about confidence posing.
It is not about performance.

It is about releasing the pressure to be anything at all.

Through intentional slowing, soft direction, and reflective writing, this experience documents the shift from self-criticism to self-compassion. From bracing…to being held.

Before the Session

You’ll receive a private guided prompt to write a letter to a past version of yourself, the one who didn’t yet know how to soften.

You’ll reflect on:

How you used to speak to yourself

What you were carrying alone

What you wish someone had told you then

This letter becomes the emotional anchor of your session.

In the Studio

Everything slows down.

Natural styling.
Soft fabrics.
Bare skin.
Quiet light.

The posing is inward and intentional resting, curling, holding yourself the way you deserved to be held all along.

Nothing performative.
Nothing forced.
No bold directives.

Just presence.

For those who feel called to it, you’ll have the option to record a single line from your letter. Shared anonymously, your voice becomes part of a collective reminder: we can speak kindly to ourselves now.

What You Leave With

This experience doesn’t end when you leave the studio.

You’ll receive:

• Your printed letter paired with 2 8x10 matted images in a keepsake folio
• A guided self-talk reset worksheet for the days old patterns try to resurface
• A brief audio reflection recorded during your session (Anonymous recordings may be used for artistic storytelling.)

These aren’t just products.

They are anchors.
Proof of a shift.
A tangible reminder that something softened.

Why This Matters

So many women don’t need more confidence.

They need permission to stop being cruel to themselves.

This experience reframes vulnerability not as exposure, but as care. It allows you to witness yourself without criticism. To see the softness that has been there all along, waiting to be allowed.

You don’t need to be fixed.
You don’t need to try harder.
You don’t need to become braver.

You just need a moment where someone says:

You can rest now.

And this is that moment.
