THE STORY- TELLING JOURNEY
This year brought a powerful new project. It’s called The Storytelling Project. Clients came as their true selves. No hair and makeup. Just comfy clothes. They shared their journeys of self-worth through stories. One story stood out.
“Not everyone is your cup of tea. And that’s okay.”
These words are freeing. They feel like a truth that goes deep. It’s about realizing you don’t have to change for others to like you. You don’t have to pretend to fit in.
Seante said, “I am not everyone’s cup of tea. I don’t need to be. I am good with that.” That idea is powerful. It’s a declaration of self-respect.
Many grow up thinking they must shrink to please others. We adjust ourselves to fit in. Often, we give too much until we have nothing left for ourselves. We forget that our worth doesn't depend on others. We don’t need to be everyone’s favorite.
You are allowed to be bold and honest. You can be strong or soft, loud or quiet. You have every right to take up space and be loved for who you are.
It’s also okay to step away from people who drain your energy. Protect your peace. You don’t owe anyone an apology for caring for yourself.
As Seante mentioned, find what feels good. Surround yourself with people who uplift you. Create moments that feel like home. Build a life that belongs to you.
You don’t need to earn rest. You don’t need to prove that you are soft. You are lovable just as you are, with or without others’ approval.
Simply, be you. Embrace that. That’s the essence of self-respect. It’s about being true to yourself and valuing your own journey, just as those in the project shared their truth. Embrace your unique flavor and let it shine.
